Creating community or What technology has stolen from us

I love computers, texting, and all this wonderful technology... but, it has robbed us all of connecting with each other. You do not even have to speak to friends, they are just a click away. Everything they are doing, what their moods are, and even where they are. What would we do without all this technology?

Oh, that's right.. We'd have to talk to each other. We would have to share in each others emotions, joys, sadness, and actually have to connect with people. I've know people that have broken up over text or myspace message. C'mon people! Wake up, and connect. Do not let computers rule the world, or your life. Can you spend a day without electronic non-verbal connection? Can you reach out to those in your life without the use of text, or messenger service?

But really... Creating community is more than just putting down the texting. Its about really being there for someone. Its aobut being part of something so much greater than being in our little bubbles. Be part of life... don't let it pass you by!

Small Miracles...

Too often we take for granted the smallest miracles that life gives us. Each day we are given an opportunity to cherish what is right in front of us, and too often we spend so much time in our own personal bubble that we lose one more day to give appreciation.

Here is my list of small miracles:

Waking up and taking that first morning breath
Seeing the sunrise
Seeing the sunset
Watching the sky turn from blue, to shades of pink as it goes to sleep
Listening to the rain drops hit my window as I fall asleep

These are just a few... What small miracles are you thankful for in your life?

pretty, pretty packages....

It seems that the more we look for answers, the more stuff is thrown our way. Each one coming in a shinier, newer wrapper. Sometimes there are pretty colors tossed in for good measure. We then accept the package as truth without really ever looking inside the box. This is a time of awakening. Now is the time to WAKE UP my friends. Stop accepting everything at face value, and ask yourself what is in the box... what is REALLY in that box. We have grown to fear what is unknown, and to look for others to give us all the answers. I can tell you for fact that no one has all the answers. If someone tells you that they do... hand them back their package, and slowly back away... then RUN!!! There are many roads that lead to the same place, but take a few moments to ask yourself... What road am I even on??

When is the last time to you took a moment for yourself? To sit and be amazed by the wonders that are all around you? When is the last time you took a moment to appreciate each breath you take, and all that it gives to your body? When is the last time you took a moment to say thank you to a close friend? When is that last time you just took a moment for you?

We spend our entire lives looking for "something". We do not really know what it is... and by the time we reach the end of our journey, we have many packages piled up, and none of them opened. We never take the time to really look deep into those boxes and see where we really stand in this life. When we open the box of a collective, must you accept the motives, beliefs, and thoughts of that collective? Or are you going to be willing to perhaps go against the flow a bit?

Be a rebel.

Looking for, then finding the kernel of corn in all the poo...

So, yesterday I was in a car wreck. It is the first time I've been in the driver's seat when this has happened. I can remember every moment, everything leading up to the impact, the smell of the airbags deploying, the burning sensation as the airbag hit my arm, the look on the other driver's face as my car buckled into hers.... and now, I sit back and wonder what is the meaning in all of this. I know that everything in life has a meaning, some sort of underlying message to look for. I remember not too long ago there was a time where things were a little more carefree than they currently are, where I felt slightly more connected to the world around me... but in those moments I felt more connected than I ever have. Any faster and she would have slammed right into my driver side door, instead of me hitting her empty passenger side. I think too often we speed through life, looking at the next closest moment, without fully engaging or entertaining the present one. To me this was a reminder to cherish life. To live the life I want to live, and to create the best possible circumstances with all of those that are around me, to make the memories that I want to make, and to be the person I am supposed to be. Life is just too precious to not enjoy everyone and everything right in front of us.

I always tell my clients... "Some people need the car wreck to appreciate the car....Now I see who the message was really for"

Much love, much hope, and much peace to all of you....

I think I found that kernel...

Oh yah.....

Ummm.. kiss my what?!?!

Okay, so most people are probably saying that our website is not very zen, since we are telling you to kiss it... but, we just want to keep it real my friends. Too often we try and lock ourselves into these little boxes knowing we just will not fit. I love yoga, I can meditate like a mo-fo, but put me behind the wheel of a car... zen what?!?

I'm driving along, minding my own... outta the blue, cars cutting me off, people cant merge--I'm kicking into crazy mantra mode-- construction up ahead--- turns up the chakra balancing cd-- and before you know it I'm losing my mind...

But, it all comes back to center.... I try to find the purpose in all that, but it usually does not happen till after the fact, but that is what this is all about really... being in that moment of reflection when you can. Not all of us want to don the cool colored robes and shave our heads, and carry around awesome prayer beads (which I do wear and omitted that I was tightly grasping them while in my traffic experience)...

Zen is....

What you want it to be for you... this is just our perspective, and I hope you find it a little entertaining on the way...

Like I said... We are just keeping it real....

oh, and by the way.....

Here.. We... Gooooooo!!!!!

Ok, so this is really my first official post on the kiss my zen blog....

And I'm reaching for things to post, to say, and to share with you. It seems that the past few days have really been a blur to say the least. There seems to be tons of chaos in change and forward progress. I think we all face some of this each and every day, and it is what we do when faced with those challenges that defines the outcome. We literally had less than a week to pull this studio idea out of our zen rears... and we did it. We could have easily said that this is too much to handle, that maybe it just was not meant to be, etc, etc, etc....

So, I diverge into a little rant....

Why is it that so many people when faced with a door to their success.. only end up banging their head on the door, and not opening it and stepping through? Many times it is fear of failure, but fear of success can be equally crippling for some. Do not be afraid my friends... if we can pull a yoga studio out of our asses in a week, you can open that door as well.

Now, with that being said... if you are in teh 757, you NEED to come down and give a class or two a go.... They are a lot of fun, and you get to look at my pretty face for the time you are in the class.... and if that wasn't good enough, you'll feel great and be a lot more relaxed.

have a great day, and KISS MY ZENNNNN!!!!!!
